The Parlor Studio was founded by Robin Ruddy and Larry Sheridan, and has been a staple on historic Music Row ever since. The studio has been home to Grammy Award-winning recording sessions, and is beloved to those that have worked here.

Larry and Robin moved to Nashville in 1986 and began to make their mark on the music industry. In 1994, they created the publishing company: Best Built Songs-ASCAP. What started as an idea at their kitchen table quickly expanded into an in-demand business. As the company outgrew the single office and studio room in their home, they began looking for a new space to establish their operations.

In 1997, Larry and Robin purchased an old bungalow on Music Row from Randy Travis and Liv Hatcher. Previously used as a storage space for Randy’s concessions, they set out to transform the house into an ideal recording studio and hub for their company. The house was gutted to the studs, renovated, and expanded to become the new home for Best Built Song and Parlor Productions.

Larry was a versed musician in his own right, who studied jazz and played the New York City solo circuit throughout the 1970’s. However, it was Larry’s background in architecture and keen eye for design that made the Parlor what it is today. Larry designed and built The Parlor Studio himself, with the help of Michael Cronin as an acoustical advisor. The studio was planned with detail and eloquence that provide for unmatched sounds. Featuring a 16’ high ceiling, the live room is especially great for tracking drums.

Originally from Miami, Florida, Robin was also an experienced musician. She played the bluegrass circuit in North Carolina and Washington, DC throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s. Larry and Robin were brought together in DC over a mutual love for songwriting, which eventually led them to Nashville. Since then, Robin has performed and toured with notable artists, such as Rod Stewart, Ray Stevens, Shania Twain, Lynn Anderson, Deborah Allen and many more, playing pedal steel, banjo, dobro, and guitar.

Over the years, Larry and Robin worked together producing records and developing the songwriting capabilities of artists recording at The Parlor. Larry’s legacy lives on through The Parlor, and the wonderful music he created here. Robin continues to hold an unmistakable presence in the Nashville music community.
